Sweet moments like this remind us that relationships matter. 💙 During a visit to CPC, Jody McClenny, the Carteret County Public Schools Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction, took a few moments to encourage a little learner who was missing his mom as he settled in for his nap. A little reassurance, a caring conversation, and a reminder that he was safe and that it was ok to miss his mom meant the world to this student in that moment. Just another example of what sets CCPS apart…its caring staff. You won’t find a better place to learn and grow. Start here. Stay here. Grow here. 🌱😊

Good Sunday evening CPC families! This is Mrs. Wood calling with updates and reminders for the week ahead. The beginning of year germs have started their visits to CPC. Please make sure you keep your child home if he/she is experiencing fever, vomiting, or diarrhea. He/she must be free of fever, vomiting, or diarrhea without the aid of fever-reducing medications for 24 hours before returning to school. While we encourage good attendance, it is more important for our students to feel productive and well during our busy day at school and to be proactive in avoiding the spread of germs when illness is suspected. Thanks in advance for your assistance with this. Our carpool line moved along a little more quickly this past week. Please continue to do your part to ensure a safe and speedy arrival and departure for your child. Our color days will continue this week. We had awesome participation from our students last week, so please help them plan and prepare to participate again this week. As a reminder, our color days for this week are: Monday: Blue Tuesday: Purple Wednesday: Black/White Thursday: Pink/Gray Friday: Wear your favorite color(s)! Finally, remember that CPC t-shirt orders are due tomorrow. We ask that each student have a CPC t-shirt for field trips. Our first field trip is in October, so placing an order by tomorrow will ensure your child has a shirt to wear. If you need assistance with the purchase of a t-shirt, please reach out to me. As always, thanks for helping CPC be the very best it can be! We look forward to seeing our students bright and early tomorrow morning!

🧠✨ Big Brain Development Happens in the Little Years! ✨🧠 Did you know that most of a child’s brain development happens during the first five years of life? That makes the preschool years an incredibly important time for learning, growing, and building strong foundations for the future. And here’s the exciting part… preschoolers learn best through PLAY! 🧩🎨🧸 When children build with blocks, pretend in the dramatic play area, explore nature, sing songs, create art, or play alongside their friends, they are doing much more than having fun. They are developing: 📚 Language and early literacy skills 🔢 Early math and problem-solving skills 💬 Communication and vocabulary 🤝 Social and emotional skills 🧠 Critical thinking and creativity 💪 Fine and gross motor skills ❤️ Confidence, independence, and self-regulation Play is how young children make sense of their world. Every conversation, discovery, challenge, and imaginative moment is helping their brains grow! At Carteret Preschool Center, we believe that play is powerful learning. Our classrooms are places where children can explore, wonder, create, and grow—because Big Adventures Begin Here! 🌟

Good Sunday evening CPC Families! As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow due to the Labor Day holiday. Enjoy that extra day of the weekend with your child. Our first schoolwide yellow folder will go home with students on Tuesday. This folder will go home on Tuesday of each week and will include information that is sent out school wide to families. This week’s folder will include the weekly newsletter, a t-shirt order form, and a PTO Spirit event reminder for the Spirit Day that will take place at Stable Grounds in Newport this Friday. Please return the yellow folder to school on Wednesday. Each day over the next couple of weeks, we will designate a color of the day. Your child is encouraged to wear something with the designated color on each day. Tuesday will be red day. Wednesday will be orange day. Thursday will be yellow day. Friday will be green or patriotic colors day. Finally, please be mindful of the urgency at which you approach morning drop off and afternoon pick up. The priority of our daily arrivals and departures is to be safe, but it is possible to be safe while also being fast. We have a large number of car riders this year, so please ensure you do your part to make this process as safe, smooth, and fast as possible. Thank you for your assistance. We look forward to seeing our students bright and early on Tuesday morning. Until then, thanks as always for helping CPC be the very best it can be! Have a great night!

Things have been busy around CPC this week! How do our students learn and grow?…It’s about a lot more than just ABC’s & 1,2,3’s. Our students learn through a lot of indoor and outdoor play, speaking and listening, problem solving, and exploration. We’re checking all of the boxes in our classrooms and on the playground. Building a strong foundation is what we do best! CPC is the place to be! 😊🖍️

Good Sunday Evening CPC families! We loved seeing our students during staggered entry this week and can’t wait to see them as we begin our regular days starting tomorrow. As we prepare for the official start to the school year, please be aware that drop off begins at 7:50 AM. Please make sure that you line up in the grassy lot on the corner across from the school and wait for direction from a staff member. Once you are directed to the drop off area, staff members will be available to assist your child in getting from the vehicle to the classroom. Afternoon pick up will begin as soon as buses are safely loaded and dismissed at 2:30 PM. Vehicles will again line up in the grassy lot on the corner across from the school. Please make sure you are displaying your carpool tag. A staff member will be positioned in the grassy lot area to assist with the pick up process. Thanks in advance for your patience on these first days of school. Our buses will begin rolling starting tomorrow. If your child is a bus rider, he/she has been assigned a pick up and drop off time. Please be aware that these assigned times can vary by 10 minutes earlier or 10 minutes later, so please plan accordingly. Remember that students cannot be dropped off without an approved adult waiting for them at the stop. Please be mindful that it will take a couple of weeks to get our bus schedule into a regular routine. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through that process. You are encouraged to label all personal items that your child brings to school. As a reminder, if you have not already submitted health and dental forms, as well as immunization records, these documents are all due no later than September 25. Your child will not be allowed to attend school if we have not received these documents by this deadline. If you are interested in volunteering at our school, you are required to attend an orientation and complete a background check. Volunteer orientation will be held at our school on Thursday, September 10 at 1:30 PM. Finally, please be aware that we have a new check in and check out system in the office. You should bring your driver’s license with you if you need to come inside the school. Thanks in advance for all you will do throughout the year to help CPC be the best it can be! We look forward to a wonderful school year as we partner to help your children grow and learn.

Good Sunday evening, CPC families! This is Mrs. Wood with updates and reminders for the week ahead.

It was wonderful to see each of you at open house this past week. It may have been a rainy afternoon, but the smiling and excited faces of our students brought the sunshine inside.

As you know, we will have staggered entry for our students this week. Your teacher has assigned a date for your child to attend a partial day of school. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Dojo will be used as a way to communicate with CPC families internally. Please make sure you have joined Dojo if you have not already done so. If you have any questions about how to join, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

PTO is taking orders for CPC t-shirts. Information about how to order shirts will go home the first week of school in our schoolwide yellow folder.

Tuesday of each week will be yellow folder day at CPC. This folder will be used for schoolwide communication and will include the weekly newsletter and any other information that is being sent out to the families of all students. The first yellow folder day will be Tuesday, September 1st.

We are excited to get our school year underway and look forward to getting to know you and your child! Working together, we will be able to make CPC be the best place to be!

Have a great evening!
