Kimberly and Virrone

This summer, Carteret Preschool Center will say farewell to two dedicated educators whose combined service to Carteret County Public Schools spans more than six decades.

Mrs. Kimberly Hughes, known to students and families simply as “Mrs. Kimberly,” and Ms. Virrone, teacher assistant, will both retire at the end of the school year after many years of serving the children and families of Carteret County.

Ms. Virrone has faithfully served as a teacher assistant for 33 years, making a lasting impact on countless students through her care, patience, and dedication. Mrs. Kimberly Hughes has devoted 31 years to public education, including 18 years as a teacher and 13 years as an administrator.

Ms. Virrone’s final day with Carteret County Public Schools will be June 9, while Mrs. Kimberly’s final day will be July 30.

Throughout their careers, both educators have touched the lives of countless children, families, and colleagues. Their commitment to early childhood education and their passion for supporting young learners have helped shape Carteret Preschool Center into the special place it is today.

“We both feel incredibly grateful for the meaningful experiences we have had throughout our careers,” said Mrs. Kimberly. “It has truly been an honor to be part of your children’s lives.”
